I'd make an effort to go out with people from halls or to throw yourself into the organised events for non-traditional students. You'll never have the opportunity again to spend an entire week making connections with people - don't waste it!
Use the Welcome website to find things to do like ice skating or something you're interested in, to meet people and get to see the city more.
