What was Welcome Week like for you?

I had never been to an open day at any university so I didn’t know what to expect and felt like I wasn’t fully aware of what would happen. Especially as a mature student I wasn’t sure whether I would meet any other mature students.

What are your top tips for new students?

  • Get involved in a Society - or more than one!
  • Use the Welcome website to find things to do like ice skating or something you're interested in, to meet people and get to see the city more.

What events would you recommend?

  • I really enjoyed the Freshers’ Fair as I got to look at and join some of the Societies!
  • Welcome is really a time to get your bearings, know where important places are such as: food shops, accommodation, gym, lecture buildings etc. And also to try and meet new people. It really helps you settle in.
