Are you interested in learning a language?

Then come along to one of our University Language Programme (ULP) Information sessions to find out all about learning a language at NTU. A tutor will be available to chat with you and answer any questions you have.

The University Language Programme (ULP) offers a range of languages and stages, from beginner to advanced, to all NTU students. You can study a language module in addition to your degree course for £300, and if you pass we’ll give you the money back! If you want to study a language as one of your degree course modules rather than as addition to your course, please check with your degree course team that you can do so. ULP classes take place on the City Campus for two hours per week during term time. Some languages also offer an online-only option.

Languages available:

  • Arabic
  • English as a Foreign Language
  • Business English (for non-native speakers of English)
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Mandarin Chinese
  • Spanish

You don’t need to book, just turn up at any time during the session.

Online Information Session
We’re also running an online version of this session on 24 September at 1400.  To register for the online session please click here and we’ll send you the online invitation on 24 September.

Student tips

Thoughts and advice from current students on your first few days with us.

Although it might feel nerve-wracking at times, try and meet as many new students as possible. The best way to do so is by joining one or more of the many Societies and attending local events.

Rynelle Oliver
MSc Psychological Well-being and Mental Health

I'd make an effort to go out with people from halls or to throw yourself into the organised events for non-traditional students. You'll never have the opportunity again to spend an entire week making connections with people - don't waste it!

Rich Bromhall
PhD in English
