Fancy a friendly meet-up with other mature students?

Join us for a relaxed and friendly meet-up on Wednesday 1st October, meeting at 5.15pm at the Newton Building steps, City Campus. We’ll take a gentle 20-minute walk together to Forest Recreation Ground to enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of the iconic Goose Fair, one of Nottingham’s most beloved annual events!

Whether you’re new to the city or just fancy some company, this is a great chance to meet fellow mature students, stretch your legs, and soak up the festive atmosphere. Expect bright lights, fairground rides, food stalls, and plenty of laughter.

Bring: Comfortable shoes, curiosity, and maybe a few coins for candy floss or a ride!

Please book your place to let us know whether to expect you.

Want to bring the family along? You’re very welcome to! Just note that any young people under 18 will need to stay with you throughout the event.
Coming solo? Absolutely fine! — many students will be doing the same, and you’ll be warmly welcomed into the group. No pressure, just good vibes and friendly faces.

Any questions? Just drop us a message – we’re happy to help!

Please make sure you book in advance so that we can manage the group size and give you the best experience.

Any questions? Feel free to get in touch.

Student tips

Thoughts and advice from current students on your first few days with us.

My most important message is never feel alone! The University and Students’ Union have amazing help and support teams. We have students that run events, meetings and socials for mature students and students with caring responsibilities. A worry shared is a worry solved, and talking to other mature students and student parents during Welcome Week really made a big difference for me.
