Mandarin Chinese Language Taster Session for Beginners

Event info

  • Multiple dates available
  • 11:00
  • Multiple locations available
  • This event is free

Are you interested in learning Mandarin? Then join us for a University Language Programme (ULP) taster session.

The University Language Programme (ULP) offers a range of languages and stages, from beginner to advanced, to all NTU students. You can study a language module in addition to your degree course for £300, and if you pass we’ll give you the money back!  If you want to study a language as one of your degree course modules rather than as addition to your course, please check with your degree course team that you can do so. ULP classes take place on the City Campus for two hours per week during term time. We also offer an online-only module for Mandarin stage 1 .

During this taster session, we’ll give you a taste of a ULP Mandarin Chinese Language class at NTU. You’ll learn a few basic phrases and interact with the other students using the target language. It’s the best way to get a taste of what to expect from a ULP course and to decide if it’s for you.

We’re offering tasters on campus and online – see Related Events below for the online sessions. There’s no need to book or prepare for the on-campus tasters, you can just turn up!

Student tips

Thoughts and advice from current students on your first few days with us.

Try something new: a sport, a society, a trip or tour, a different type of coffee……we don’t get many chances in life to explore and experiment so make the most of it!

Although it might feel nerve-wracking at times, try and meet as many new students as possible. The best way to do so is by joining one or more of the many Societies and attending local events.
