Do you want to practise a language you speak or learn a new language?

Global Lounges‘ weekly Language Café is open to all students who want to practise languages in a relaxed setting with other students and staff.

How does it work?

We will create different language tables each week based on the students’ interests. There will usually be a volunteer who is a native, fluent, or advanced speaker of that language at the table to help lead the conversations and activities.

All languages and levels of ability are welcome. You can join for half an hour, or the full two hours, and you’re welcome to switch between language tables.

Follow us on Instagram for more information about Global Lounge events and activities.

Student tips

Thoughts and advice from current students on your first few days with us.

I'd make an effort to go out with people from halls or to throw yourself into the organised events for non-traditional students. You'll never have the opportunity again to spend an entire week making connections with people - don't waste it!

Rich Bromhall
PhD in English

I checked out a lot of theatre plays in my first year. I went to see a lot of NTU drama productions which were really good, then I joined the drama society and got to see all my friends perform. I have friends who are stand-up comedians, musicians and actors – you can follow your passions.
